In MLB, the New York Yankees shut out the Cincinnati Reds 5 to 0, the Los Angeles Dodgers got past the Baltimore Orioles 6 to 5, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Milwaukee Brewers 3 to 2. In WNBA play, the Toronto Tempo outlasted the Connecticut Sun 101 to 97, and the Washington Mystics beat the New York Liberty 86 to 83.
Looking ahead, World Cup group play continues today with Sweden against Netherlands at NRG Stadium, Ivory Coast against Germany at BMO Field, and Curaçao against Ecuador at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The matchup to watch is Sweden versus Netherlands, as another established soccer name has a chance to set the pace after the United States and Brazil both won Friday.
